Welcome to our Euro Venture!
The Plan
We work in tech and do so remotely. We lived in Manhattan for a few years through Covid and relocated to Tampa Florida for a few years after that. Over the years, we've done our fair share of international travel to Bali, Malaysia, Italy, and so on. But with cats and a house, it was hard to get away for more than a month.
But what if we could... how would we do it?
The plan is to sell our cars, rent the house on Airbnb, donate everything we don't need to Goodwill, and put everything else in storage. This gets rid of all those pesky expenses that make traveling expensive - it's not so much that the cost of Europe is high, but maintaining all of your normal expenses on top of it is expensive!
Next, we still need to work. We do well, but this is not a two-year vacation. So, instead of bouncing around from city to city, spending just a few days or a week in each place, we need to settle a bit. By spending a couple months in each country, we get to live more like a local. It's not all vacation, but the upside is that there are always fresh things to do and see in each new country.
Lastly, the cats. Many people have asked us "why?". The answer is quite simple - there is no other option. The cats are part of our family, and if we're going to do it, then they have to be part of it. Also, we sort of like the added challenge (but not expense) of bringing our furry children.
